My I Scream Factory life
This is a big part of my life. And also one of the most exciting as an artist. The I Scream Factory is a collective of photographers and fine artists who share a similar motto, eat the ice cream before it melts. This is also a metaphor of course. Founded by my wonderful and talented friend Alexandra Plesner, back in 2010 as a University project, she evolved the collective to what it is today. People who love ice scream and art. Collaborate together on their pieces, which we as a collective then present to the world. We neither of us profit from the exhibitions themselves, just sharing our work with anyone who is interested. If someone should take an interest, well that is only for the better, right? Visit our page here and perhaps be inspired yourselves. www.iscreamfactory.com you can also find us on Facebook, just click the link.
I love opening nights. The anticipation and preparations. When you turn up and you know that you are part of this amazing group of people who put all this together and this dream of yours is happening. Happening now, this very minute. The adrenalin is kicking in, just breathe. Then you're on such a high, no alcohol required, just the buzz and energy of the room is enough. People talking, sharing their thoughts and opinions, getting inspired. I love it!
To talk a little about the name and how it came about. There is a movie by Jim Jarmusch called "Down by Law". There is a particular scene where cell mates Zack, Jack and Robert start a chant, which gets louder and more enthusiastic. Robert being an Italian with little knowledge of english comes up with a rhyme where there is a play on words. 'I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.' Do you see it? Or rather hear it? Scream it out loud with me!
But why ice cream do you ask? Well the story goes back to 1879, when Alexandra's family started making ice scream to sell. They have never looked back. There is still a shop in Kufstein and it's called Udo's Eisparadies. So if you find yourself in the neighbourhood, I absolutely recommend you go and visit them. Fresh ice cream everyday, varying depending on the season and in-house new creations. What more could you ask for? Total paradise. Growing up amongst all this ice cream must have been both amazing and difficult. How could you resist and say no to ice scream when it is right there in from of your eyes? But all the beautiful colours!
